Hint Water is a modern-day David versus Goliath story, but Kara Goldin didn’t wake up one day intending to take on the beverage market and disrupt Big Bev. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth… at least initially.
Kara previously worked for AOL, where she helped grow their eCommerce business to a $1 billion enterprise. She had four kids and wanted to do something different, but she encountered health challenges that made it difficult.
After seeing several doctors and not getting any real answers, she decided to take things into her own hands and hit the reset button on her nutrition – starting with her beloved Diet Coke, which was truly an addiction.
So Kara set out on a mission to solve a problem for one person: herself.
When Kara first cut Diet Coke out of her diet, she was still craving a sweet drink (and, frankly, she just didn’t like the taste of water). She started adding cut fruit into her own water, and the weight loss she experienced just from that small change was dramatic.
When she tried to find something similar at the store, all she could find was Vitamin Water… which had just as much sugar as the soda she was trying to cut out of her diet.
Although she couldn’t find the product she wanted, she did find other people who were struggling with the same problem – and an opportunity. Since then, Kara has grown Hint® into a $90 million beverage company, and they show no signs of slowing down.
